SAFARI TIPS BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
Bucketlist safaris is all about customization. We work with what information you give us to package a memorable travel experience throughout the entire process. From the unspoiled rich grasslands of the Maasai Mara to the white sand beaches and coral reefs, the imposing snowcapped Mt. Kenya to The Great Rift Valley, the cultural diversity to the proud, friendly citizens, Kenya offers a unique physiography that bombards the senses from the moment you set foot on its soil. Our goal is to put together an adventure that will allow you to feel the heart of this great country
It Grows on You
It takes a bit of courage to leave the relative safety of your country and go visit an unfamiliar, far country, where what you know is probably what you have read or seen in the media. But beyond the sometimes-unnerving pictures are a beautiful people who will stop at nothing to show you kindness. Beyond the vendors along the way selling crafty souvenirs is a proud artisan whos skillset was passed down from generations. Beyond the culture and history that hits you strong, are a people ready to share with you their world. Somewhere between the airport and the hotel, you settle down and settle in, and that is where the magic begins
Once you travel to a different part of the world, it changes your perception of life. Other things become important. Soon you want to join the village kids happiest with a soccer ball, or dance with the red-clad and beaded Masai warriors as they entertain you. You leave with so much appreciation of a different culture and people. In a few days, where once you were timid, you are now bolder. You haggle over price and enjoy every minute of it. At times you forget you have to leave. It grows on you. You will be back. The seduction is complete. Spend your anniversary sipping sundowners by an open fire, the air filled with conversations about the majesty and gore you just witnessed- game viewing at it’s best! Travel, I believe, is the greatest education; the school of my life was not learned at school.
Flights
On some segments of your safari, we recommend short local flights. Taking a 45 minute flight instead of driving 5 hours from Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve will not only maximize the vacation time, but will spare you from long and sometimes bumpy road conditions. If your safari adventure involves domestic flights, we will detail those costs in your package.
Climate Conditions
Although Kenya is centered at the equator, it shares the seasons of the southern hemisphere with the warmest summer months in January-March and the coolest winter months in July–August, although only a few degrees cooler. There are two main rainy seasons: The long rains occur from April to June and short rains from October to December. Higher altitude areas like Nairobi tend to get cold in the mornings and evenings, with lows of 50ºF The Coast of Kenya experiences a tropical climate, with average temperatures between 73ºF and 86ºF annually, and though at specific times the humidity can be awfully high, the soothing sea breezes guarantee enjoyable and comforting conditions.

Choosing the right travel insurance can be complicated, but the unforeseen difficulties that happen more often than you’d think underscores the importance of investing in travel insurance. When you spend so much money on a trip, why wouldn't you spend a few hundred dollars more for insurance? Shop around, but we recommend TravelGuard.
